Ontario Orders Closure Of Private Career College

Province Suspends Registration of Bond College of Business & Technology

June 24, 2009

A Toronto-based private career college has been shut down after failing to maintain its registration as a corporation with the Province of Ontario.

The Bond College of Business & Technology cannot operate as a private career college in Ontario. It cannot deliver vocational programs or solicit or accept applications from students.

The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities' Superintendent of Private Career Colleges ordered Bond College to cease operation. The Superintendent suspended Bond's private career college registration due to its failure to comply with Ontario's Corporations Tax Act.

No students were registered at Bond College at the time of its closure.

To operate in Ontario, private career colleges must be registered and have their programs approved by the ministry under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005. This act ensures that the colleges meet certain standards for the programs they offer, as well as for their advertising, refund policies, and instructor qualifications.

The notice issued to Bond College of Business & Technology is available on the ministry's Notices and Orders website. Students can use the ministry's online search service to find registered private career colleges and approved programs in Ontario.
