February 24, 2011

The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities has appointed Maxim Jean-Louis to work with postsecondary sector stakeholders and determine how best to establish the Ontario Online Institute.

The proposed Online Institute will be an organization of colleges, universities and online learning networks whose goal will be to increase postsecondary online learning opportunities for students in Ontario. The project will build on Ontario's strong foundation in e-learning and distance education.

Mr. Jean-Louis brings considerable experience and expertise in online learning and distance education in Canada.

The creation of an Online Institute is part of the McGuinty government's Open Ontario plan to help build the most skilled and educated workforce in the world, giving Ontario the competitive edge in securing a strong economy for the future.
