Backgrounder30% Off Ontario TuitionApril 30, 2012 To create the best-educated workforce in the world, Ontario is helping families by keeping the cost of postsecondary education affordable. The government is continuing to provide the 30% Off Ontario Tuition grant launched in January 2012. The application for the 2012-13 school year is now open. WHO IS ELIGIBLEStudents are eligible for the 30% Off Ontario Tuition grant if:
Eligible students enrolled in a university or college degree program will get $1,680 and students in college diploma and certificate programs will get $770 per year. Students may receive the 30% Off Ontario Tuition for up to four years of study in an undergraduate program. Students with disabilities may receive the grant for up to six years of study. HOW TO APPLYSecondary students attending college or university in the fall can apply for the tuition grant starting April 30, 2012. Students who will apply for OSAP will be automatically considered. If eligible, the grant will be deposited directly into their bank account or otherwise be mailed to their school-year address. Students who do not apply for OSAP must apply for the tuition grant. Before starting, students will need their parent(s)' and their own Social Insurance Number (SIN) numbers, and the information from Line 150 from their parent(s)' 2011 Canadian Income Tax Return(s). Students need to apply only once to receive the grant for two terms. Eligible students will receive their grant for their first term after their enrolment is confirmed in September and for the second term in January. See also
