Minister's Awards for Apprenticeship Training



The annual Minister's Awards for Apprenticeship Training celebrate employers that show leadership in training apprentices, support the apprenticeship training system, and promote careers in skilled trades.

Employers that train apprentices make an important contribution to their businesses' success, Ontario's economy, and to promoting training and continuous learning.

The 2012 winners are:

Bergeron Electric Limited (Cornwall)
A strong supporter of apprenticeship, the company has hired and trained construction and maintenance electrician apprentices for 66 years. It currently has six apprentices and participates in career fairs and the Co-op Diploma Apprenticeship Program.

Cementation Canada Inc. (North Bay)
The company is a division of a large, international firm that is the largest underground mine contracting company in the world. The company is committed to apprenticeship and currently has 22 apprentices.

Fred Hook Ltd. (Midland)
The company provides sheet metal, refrigeration and air-conditioning solutions, and was established in 1956. It currently has five apprentices and participates on provincial training advisory committees.

Steelcraft Inc. (Stratford)
The company is a supply chain partner to the manufacturing sector. It currently has 12 apprentices, and is a strong supporter of Co-op Diploma Apprenticeship Program and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program.
