Employers can earn a $1000 taxable cash grant for each apprentice they employ and train that complete his or her apprenticeship, receives a Certificate of Apprenticeship and where, applicable, a Certificate of Qualification.

The Apprenticeship Completion Employer Bonus is part of the government's plan to ensure Ontario has the skilled workers it needs to succeed in tomorrow's economy. This initiative is designed to:

• Encourage employers to fully train their apprentices.
• Encourage employers to hire apprentices and participate in Ontario's apprenticeship system.
• Reward and acknowledge employers who have shown commitment to apprenticeship training.

Employers that:

• Eligibility is retroactive to include apprentice completions on or after January 1, 2010.
• Employ and complete apprentices in any of Ontario's approved trades.
• Are incorporations or unincorporated businesses and are subject to Ontario corporate income tax or Ontario personal income tax.
• Are based in Ontario or out of province.

Local Area Committees (LACs), Joint Apprenticeship Committees (JACs) and Sponsor Groups are not eligible for the Apprenticeship Completion Employer Bonus.

These groups are not individual Employers. Employers that belong to these groups can receive the bonus if they are the employer who last employed the apprentice.

• Eligible employers will receive a letter and application from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
• Employers will be identified by the registration document or training agreement with individual apprentices.
