Sector Partnership Planning Grant (SPPG)

Are your industry and local economy held back by a skills gap—not enough workers with the skills or experience for the unfilled jobs?

The Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development’s new Sector Partnership Planning Grant can help.

This new grant will bring together partners—employers, training groups and employment and workforce planning agencies—to develop strategies that align training with the skills needed for their industry or sector to grow and compete in the new economy.

Workforce strategies supported by the Sector Partnership Planning Grant will help connect job seekers at all skills levels, including the least skilled, to the training they need for these jobs.

The ministry is seeking applications for the grant, up to a maximum of $50,000 per project. Projects will identify workforce challenges among employers in a particular sector, and develop solutions in partnership with employment and training providers. Workforce strategies and skills training opportunities identified through the partnerships may be eligible for funding in future skills training requests for proposal (RFPs).

The deadline to submit applications was July 19, 2017.
