RE: Youth Job Link Training for Service Providers

The purpose of this bulletin is to advise Youth Job Link (YJL) service providers of new training that the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) is developing to help you prepare for an April 2016 program launch.

On February 4, 2016, the ministry posted detailed information about YJL on the Employment Ontario Partners’ Gateway (EOPG) to help service providers understand the program’s design and the ministry’s strategic direction for youth employment programming.

Informational supports include:

  • YJL addendum to the ES guidelines (YJL guidelines)
  • YJL General Q and As
  • YJL Technical Q and As

Please ensure you review these materials carefully.

To support you further in preparing for the launch of this new program, the ministry is rolling out training for YJL service providers.

Online eLearning is now posted on the EOPG. This eLearning provides an interactive overview of the YJL guidelines to help enhance your understanding of the program and highlight key design and operational aspects.

Desk aid:
A desk aid has been developed and posted on the EOPG as a reference tool for service providers. It outlines program design details including eligibility, incentives, etc.

In the coming weeks, MTCU will hold regional teleconferences for service providers. This will be an opportunity for you to gain further knowledge of the program and ask any remaining questions you may have.

To get the most out of the training sessions, please ensure you read the materials listed above. You are also required to complete the eLearning prior to the teleconference.

Over the next couple of weeks, you will receive an invitation to participate in a YJL teleconference. Teleconference dates are still being finalized and will be shared shortly.

Prior to the teleconferences, you are also encouraged to share any questions you may have with your Employment Training Consultant to ensure the ministry is prepared to address them as part to the teleconference.

If you have any questions regarding the training plan, please do not hesitate to contact your local MTCU office.
