Ontario Crown Ward Postsecondary Application Fee Reimbursement Program



Purpose

The program is intended to reimburse current and former Ontario Crown wards for the cost of applying to eligible postsecondary schools and postsecondary programs. You are reimbursed when:

  • Eligible application fees were paid for an approved full-time postsecondary program of study;
  • The program of study started in academic years 2010-11 or 2011-12 or will start in 2012-13; and,
  • The program of study leads to a first postsecondary degree, diploma or certificate.

How Much Can I Apply For?

For 2012-13 academic year applications, reimbursements are available up to the maximums listed below and only in up to two of the following institutional categories:

  • Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC): All application fees for up to five first entry university/program choices*
  • Ontario Colleges Application Service (OCAS): All application fees for up to five college/program choices
  • OSAP approved programs offered by Ontario private postsecondary institutions: Up to $100 in application fees
  • OSAP approved programs offered by out-of-province postsecondary institutions: Up to $100 in application fees*

You may have additional fees and application fees from other institutions. These fees are not eligible for reimbursement.

*Application fees incurred applying to second entry professional programs such as law, medicine, faculties of education (teacher’s college) and rehabilitation sciences are not eligible for reimbursement.

Do I Qualify?

Reimbursements are available to current and former Ontario Crown wards regardless of age, income or adoption status when:

  • postsecondary application fees have been paid for a first full-time college, university, private or out-of-province postsecondary degree, diploma or certificate program;
  • that program of study started in 2010-11, 2011-12, or will start in 2012-13 academic years; and,
  • it is an approved program of study.

NOTE: If your application fees for the 2012-13 academic year have been paid through the Life After High School program, you cannot apply to have those same fees reimbursed through the Ontario Crown Ward Postsecondary Application Fee Reimbursement Program.
