Ontario's Winner of the 2011 Council of the Federation Literacy Award

The Council of the Federation Literacy Award recognizes outstanding achievement, innovative practices and excellence in literacy. Thirteen winners are chosen each year, one for each province and territory.

This year, the category for Ontario's award is innovation, and reflects someone who has proven to be an innovator in researching, developing or delivering literacy programs.

Ningwakwe George is honoured for her grassroots and international leadership and innovative, holistic approach to indigenous literacy issues. The 2011 award recipients were announced on July 18.
