DATE:   March 14th 2016

SUBJECT: Youth Job Connection: Summer eLearning

MEMO #: YJC 2015-16 #8

OBJECTIVE:

The purpose of this bulletin is to advise Youth Job Connection: Summer (YJCS) service providers of new training that the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (ministry) has developed to help prepare for an April 1, 2016 program launch.

BACKGROUND:

YJCS is the second component of the new Youth Job Connection (YJC) program, which launched in October 2015 to provide youth experiencing multiple and/or complex barriers to employment with more intensive employment supports beyond traditional job search and placement opportunities.

The summer component will provide summer, part-time and after-school job opportunities for high school students, aged 15 to 18, who are facing challenging life circumstances and may need support transitioning between school and work.

Prior to the YJC program launch in October 2015, the ministry posted detailed information about YJCS on the Employment Ontario Partners Gateway (EOPG) to help service providers understand the program’s design and the ministry’s strategic direction for youth programming.

Informational supports previously posted to EOPG include:

  • YJCS Program Guidelines

To support you further in preparing for the launch of the second component of YJC, the ministry is rolling out training for YJC/YJCS service providers.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?
