These particulars are posted following the issuance of a Restraining and Compliance Order against a registered private career college by the Superintendent of Private Career Colleges pursuant to s. 46 (1) and (2) of the Act.

Contraventions

The Superintendent has ordered 1825613 Ontario Inc. o/a TE Business and Technology College to:

Restraining Order:

  • Stop offering or providing unapproved vocational programs contrary to s. 8 (1) of the Act;
  • Stop charging fees for unapproved vocational programs contrary to s. 9 of the Act;
  • Stop advertising unapproved vocational programs contrary to s.11 of the Act.

Compliance Order

  • Start maintaining complete student files in accordance with section 45(1) of O.Reg. 415/06 of the Act, including proof that each student has met the admission requirements as required under section 19 (3), (4) and (5) of O.Reg. 415/06 and any other admission requirements established by the institution, as required under section 45(1) of O.Reg. 415/06; a copy of records of results of any academic evaluations, including the result of an evaluation of the student’s progress prior to the halfway point of their vocational program in accordance with section 12 of O. Reg 415/06; and copies of receipts issued to students for all student program fees including tuition, books and other fees as required under section 45 (1) 6 of O.Reg. 415/06;
  • Start completing a written contract with every student with copy to student file and to student as required by s. 28 of the Act;
  • Start completing all of the terms in the enrolment contracts entered into with students as required under section 20(1) of O.Reg. 415/06;
  • Start maintaining complete instructor qualification forms as required under section 42 of O.Reg. 415/06 and ensuring that the instructional staff are qualified as required by s. 41 of O. Reg 415/06;

Required Actions

By June 27, 2014, 1825613 Ontario Inc. o/a TE Business and Technology College is required by the Superintendent to provide written confirmation signed by a person with authority to bind the corporation, together with all available supporting evidence, confirming that they:

  • Have stopped offering or providing unapproved vocational programs;
  • Have stopped charging fees for unapproved vocational programs;
  • Have stopped advertising unapproved vocational programs;
  • Have started maintaining complete student files including:
    • proof that each student has met the admission requirements
    • a copy of records of results of any academic evaluations, including the result of an evaluation of the student’s progress prior to the halfway point of their vocational program
    • copies of receipts issued to students for all student program fees including tuition, books and other fees;
  • Have started completing a written contract with every student with copy to student file and to student;
  • Have started completing all of the terms in the enrolment contracts entered into with students;
  • Have started maintaining complete instructor qualification forms and ensuring that the instructional staff are qualified.
