Canada-Ontario Job Fund
Canada-Ontario Job Grant: UpSkill
- What is the Canada-Ontario Job Grant: UpSkill?
The Canada-Ontario Job Grant: UpSkill (COJG: UpSkill) pilot will support new approaches to sector-specific essential and technical skills training, in order to meet the shared workforce development needs of employers.
The objective is to provide employers in identified sectors with high-quality, cost-effective training tailored to industry needs. Employees will benefit from opportunities to enhance their work-related skills and progress in careers in their chosen fields.
The ministry is introducing this pilot through an Expression of Interest (EOI) process. This process is not an application for funding; instead, it will provide the ministry with information to refine its pilot approach.
- How does the Expression of Interest process work?
The Expression of Interest (EOI) responses will inform the roll-out of the pilot by providing information on:
- The level of interest and capacity within different sectors to implement a sector-specific essential and technical skills training pilot project;
- The existing or potential collaborative relationships between sector employers, employer associations, and:
- skills training providers
- employment service providers
- any other relevant players involved in determining and meeting workforce development needs.
- Timeframes and costs related to key activities such as curriculum development, client selection and training delivery.
Any interested party can complete the EOI template and submit it within the designated timeframes. Submissions will be due on November 14, 2014.
Answers to Questions Submitted by Potential Respondents (October 31, 2014) Responses to the EOI will not impact eligibility for participation in a pilot.

- What is the Canada-Ontario Job Grant: Customized Training?
The Canada-Ontario Job Grant: Customized Training pilot supports the development and delivery of firm-specific skills training—where the employer's unique workforce development needs limits the availability of pre-existing training content, and where the employer does not have the capacity to develop the training themselves.

- How does the Expression of Interest process work?
The Expression of Interest (EOI) process will support the roll-out of the pilot by providing the ministry with information and evidence related to:
- The level of interest among employers and training providers to develop and implement firm-specific, customized skills training solutions.
- The existing or potential partnerships between an employer, skills training providers and any other relevant organizations.
- Timeframes and costs related to key activities such as curriculum development and training delivery.
Any interested party can complete the EOI template and submit it within the designated timeframes. Submissions will be due on November 14, 2014.
