These particulars are posted following the issuance of a Compliance Order against a registered private career college by the Superintendent of Private Career Colleges pursuant to s. 46 (2) of the Act.

Contraventions

The Superintendent has ordered Design 8000 Hairstyling School Ltd. to do the folowing:

  • Inform each student enrolled in vocational programs of the results of their evaluations of their progress in accordance with section 12 of Ontario Regulation 415/06;
  • Stop making false or misleading statements, written or oral, or any statement described in paragraph 2 of subsection 16(1) for the purposes of inducing a student or prospective student to enrol in a program or to enter into a contract with a private career college contrary to section 18 of Ontario Regulation 415/06;
  • Stop admitting students into vocational programs unless the student meets the admission requirements for the program established by the college and those set out in subsection (3) contrary to section 19 of Ontario Regulation 415/06;
  • Ensure that every contract entered into by the institution and a student for the provision of a vocational program shall include the terms set out under section 20 of Ontario Regulation 415/06;
  • Ensure that every student transcript includes the terms and information as set out under section 34(1) of Ontario Regulation 415/06;
  • Stop employing persons to provide instruction in vocational program unless they meet the requirements as set out under section 41 of Ontario Regulation 415/06;

Required Actions

By January 29, 2017, Design 8000 Hairstyling School Ltd. was required by the Superintendent to provide written confirmation signed by a person with authority to bind the corporation, together with all available supporting evidence, confirming that they:

  • Have informed each student enrolled in vocational programs of the results of their evaluations of their progress in accordance with section 12 of Ontario Regulation 415/06.
  • Have stopped making false or misleading statements, written or oral, or any statement described in paragraph 2 of subsection 16(1) for the purposes of inducing a student or prospective student to enrol in a program or to enter into a contract with a private career college contrary to section 18 of Ontario Regulation 415/06;
  • Have stopped admitting students into vocational programs unless the student meets the admission requirements for the program established by the college and those set out in subsection (3) contrary to section 19 of Ontario Regulation 415/06;
  • Have ensured that every contract entered into by the institution and a student for the provision of a vocational program shall include the terms set out under section 20 of Ontario Regulation 415/06;
  • Have ensured that every student transcript includes the terms and information set out under section 34(1) of Ontario Regulation 415/06;
  • Have stopped employing persons to provide instruction in a vocational program unless they meet the requirements contrary to section 41 of Ontario Regulation 415/06;
