These particulars are posted following the issuance of a Restraining Order against an unregistered private career college by the Superintendent of Private Career Colleges pursuant to s. 46 (1) of the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.

Contraventions

The Superintendent ordered Living Institute to do the following:

  • A. Stop offering and providing an unapproved vocational program unless the Business is registered and the provision of the vocational program has been approved by the Superintendent contrary to section 8 (1) of the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005
  • Stop charging and collecting fees for a vocational program that has not been approved by the Superintendent contrary to section 9 (1) of the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005
  • Stop representing that accreditation with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario may be obtained upon the completion of a vocational program unless the Business is registered and both the provision of the vocational program leading to the credential and the granting of the credential have been approved by the Superintendent, contrary to section 10 of the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005
  • Stop advertising the provision of a vocational program unless the Business is registered and the provision of the vocational program has been approved by the Superintendent, contrary to section 11 (2) of the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005

Required Actions

By March 13, 2020, Living Institute was required by the Superintendent to provide written confirmation signed by a person with authority to bind the corporation, together with all available supporting evidence, confirming that they:

  • Stopped providing the Existential-Integrative Psychotherapy Diploma program and will not provide this program and/or any other vocational programs until the Business is registered and the vocational programs have been approved by the Superintendent
  • Will not charge or collect fees for the Existential-Integrative Psychotherapy Diploma program and/or any other vocational programs unless the Business is registered and the vocational programs have been approved by the Superintendent
  • Will not represent that accreditation with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) may be obtained upon the completion of the Existential-Integrative Psychotherapy Diploma program and/or any other vocational programs offered at the Business until the Business is registered and both the provision of the vocational program(s) leading to the credential and the granting of the credential have been approved by the Superintendent
  • Removed all advertising for the Existential-Integrative Psychotherapy Diploma program and will not advertise this program and/or any other vocational programs until the Business is registered and the vocational programs have been approved by the Superintendent
